MV Computer Science is, to put it bluntly, the above. Founded in 2007 as MV Java Club, MVCS (rebranded in 2013) has expanded from teaching the Java programming language to embracing the arts that are computer science, coding, and the integration of both into technologies that make our life tick.

Today, we cover topics as varied as algorithmic programming (to prep for competitions like USACO) to teaching computer science from a top-down perspective, and even web programming for educational nonprofits like Learn To Be.

We hope to not only promote tech-literacy, but also empower teens, young adults, and students to take up pursuits (and maybe even careers!) in technology. We have a lot of exciting stuff going on, and it's only going to get better from here!

Ved Pradhan (Co-President)

Ved Pradhan is currently a senior at Monta Vista. He likes all things related to math, including computer science and physics. In addition, he also has many interests in extracurricular activities.

Ved codes in Java, Python, C++, JavaScript, and more. He also knows small amounts of other languages, too. He specializes in Web Development (Front-End and Back-End) and works extensively with the frameworks Django and Node.js. Ved has been coding since elementary school, and developed an interest in programming early on. Ved tied for first place in the first ever repl.it coding competition in 2018. He also participates regularly in hackathons, like <hack> Cupertino. He also participates in USACO Silver.

In his free time, Ved enjoys music. He knows how to play eight instruments, and also was in Monta Vista’s Men’s Choir. Furthermore, Ved does Taekwon-Do, in which he is a third degree black belt (and US Champion). Ved also likes playing chess, solving Rubik’s cubes, and doing 3D animation in Blender.
